Primary Effort Coordinators (PEC)
All departments have a PEC who has final review of all effort reporting and monitors the Effort Coordinators. To find the PEC for your department send an email to effort-reporting@columbia.edu.
Payroll Account Transfer (PAT) for processing salary adjustments:

You can find instructions for completing the PAT and the salary adjustment process within the attachment below: | | | |  Salary Adjustment Process | | | | In certifying effort, if a faculty member determines that the pre-printed effort percentages are incorrect and therefore certifies to different percentages, he/she should immediately communicate any such changes to the department’s Effort Coordinator (EC). The EC must make any necessary cost transfers in the source system, Labor Distribution, via the PAT form; for this purpose, a cost transfer is necessary if the percentage change would result in a reduction of the charge to a sponsored account of $1,000 or more. |

Certification Justification Form
| All paper certifications (e.g., for individuals who have left the University) must be accompanied by a Certification Justification Form explaining the circumstances for using the paper certification (e.g. “Prof. Jones is no longer at Columbia and Dr. Smith is the PI on her grant.”) Forms are available here. |
